The bracelet was first launched in March 2008 at the second annual Global Summit for a Better Tomorrow, presented by the United Nations Development Fund for Women, (UNIFEM) in partnership with Avon, at the United Nations in New York City. Ms. Witherspoon has taken this mission to empower women and raise awareness around the world this year, including visits in the United States and Japan.

David is actually wearing energy bead bracelets created by a company called Energy Muse.
These bracelets and necklaces are designed to enhance the wearer's wellbeing by 'filling in the missing peace' in their life- and at $100 a go we'd expect some pretty special enhancement!
Described by creators Heather Askinosie and Timmi Jandro as 'wearable energies', each bracelet is designed to have a different effect or represent a different energy.
