A thief threatened and robbed a jewelry store clerk Wednesday afternoon at a Route 30 outlet store, escaping with only one, very expensive item, police said.
Around 3:30 p.m., the man walked into the Kay Jewelers store at Tanger Outlet and asked the female clerk if he could look closer at a bracelet in the display case, East Lampeter Township Police said.
The clerk complied and was holding the bracelet in her hand when the robber grabbed her, told her he had a weapon, took the bracelet and ran out of the store, Lt. James Ely said.
Ely said although it was just one item, it was a very expensive piece of jewelry.
The suspect is described by police as a white male about 40, approximately 6 feet 1 inch tall with a medium build. He left the area in an older model, burgundy-colored, four-door sedan. He was dressed in dark clothing and wearing a baseball-style cap.
