Washington County families who worry about relatives with memory conditions wandering away from home now have an option that may provide a little peace of mind.
Project Lifesaver bracelets will debut noon Monday at the Washington County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies will demonstrate how the Global Positioning System bracelets can help find people like Duane 'Butch' Vandehey, who suffered a stroke years ago, and now has a tendency to wander away from his Gales Creek home.
Each bracelet contains a waterproof radio transmitter, which is assigned a radio frequency that is unique to both them and their geographical area.
Searchers are equipped with receivers that are able to locate the bracelet in a short amount of time. Searches that used to take hours, or days, can now literally take minutes once the deputies are on scene, said WCSO Sgt. David Thompson
