A slip off the wagon landed a 27-year-old man 18 months of house arrest after he vandalized a soft-drink vending machine while drunk.
Joseph Desjarlais also must pay $100 per month until he has paid $1,700 in restitution to Coca-Cola, Judge Marty Irwin ordered Tuesday in provincial court.
Desjarlais will wear an electronic bracelet for the first three months of his conditional sentence.

Petters has maintained his innocence.
During Tuesday's three-hour hearing, the prosecution and Petters' family members gave conflicting views on how likely a flight risk Petters would be if he were released pending trial. Prosecutors want Petters held without bail; Petters' attorney is arguing for release using an electronic monitoring bracelet.
Prosecutors played a tape for the courtroom of a conversation between Petters and Robert White, an associate and former Petters Group consultant who is also charged in the case, in which they allege Petters advises the other man to flee the country by boat. A voice identified as Petters' also encourages White to Google Mark Rich -- a reference, prosecutors argue, to the former commodities trader who fled to Switzerland to escape tax evasion charges in the 1990s. Attorney John Marti argued Petters should remain in custody because he is a flight risk.
Mr. Petters is a con man, Marti said, an over $3 billion con man. Marti added that if convicted on all of the charges, Petters faces life in prison.
That creates a huge motive to flee, Marti said.
Defense attorney Jon Hopeman disagreed, arguing that Petters should be confined to his home in Wayzata and placed on an electronic monitoring bracelet. Hopeman also suggested that Petters check in with authorities three times a day, give up his cell phone, have no text messaging, no Internet use and undergo a physical evaluation about his use of medications and an alcohol evaluation.

Say Vang, whose father, Xee Hue Vang, 87, died and whose mother, Mao Lee Yang, is scheduled to undergo surgery this morning, said he and his siblings couldn't find their parents for hours.
'This is a big accident where language was a barrier,' Vang said. 'I lost hope, I thought that both my parents had probably died. I pray to any of the elderly in the hospital, 'Please don't die!' '

The court heard Politharis had previously gone by a number of aliases and had faked psychosis in a vain attempt to be transferred from Yatala Labour Prison to a mental health facility after his arrest.
Prosecutor Dominic Petraccaro said Politharis had contacted a Victorian software company to arm himself with the technology to pull off the heist.
Perhaps it is fortunate for Mr Politharis that this venture did not bear any fruit for him, Mr Petraccaro said.
Judge David Smith was told that Politharis would face a lesser sentence because he failed to get any money.
Mr Petraccaro said despite the failure, a substantial prison term was needed to deter Politharis and others from attempting similar thefts.
The court heard Politharis is also facing further charges for allegedly trying to manipulate an electronic monitoring bracelet while on home detention.
He will be sentenced for the failed ATM scam later this month, when he faces a maximum penalty of ten years jail.

'We knew before she even told us that she was pregnant with Mary,' said Breezy's Beads employee Deb Sallee. 'We could see it in her face. I think she told us before she told her husband, Dave.'
Mangold's fellow beaders also were among the first to learn that doctors discovered she had a lump in her breast in 2005, a month before she was due to give birth to Mary, who Davey nicknamed 'Flower.'
Doctors advised against radical cancer treatments to protect the baby. Following Mary's birth, a biopsy showed the lump was malignant and had spread to Mangold's lymph nodes.
She had surgery, chemotherapy and radiation, but her type of cancer was resistant to traditional forms of treatment.
It was during Mangold's first year of treatment that Tice, Sallee and four fellow beaders sat down and created a one-of-a-kind 'Wendi' bracelet to raise money for the 3-Day walk, which raises money for research in hopes scientists will find a cure for breast cancer.
'Wendi kept coming in here after chemotherapy,' Tice said. 'She had a short window between chemo and when the sickness would really hit her, so she would stop in here to bead. She had no hair and we teased her because she had a perfect-shaped head. She would make these really gaudy beaded earrings to wear to show off her head.'

Jewelry thieves cleaned out a Kingsland Avenue building on Oct. 3, breaking into at least two different apartments near the corner of Nassau Avenue in search of precious trinkets.
The crooks walked into the first apartment through an unlocked door between 7:40 am and 3 pm, snatching six rings, four pairs of earrings, a wedding band, a watch, a cross, and a chain.
The same thieves then raided another apartment between 8 am and 3:20 pm - entering this time through a kitchen window - and grabbed twenty Tiffany Co. charms, four diamond rings, and a bracelet.

Debris from the incident, including amber plastic, flecks of paint, a broken bracelet, glass and bits of mobile phone were observed spread out at the scene.
Ms Blyton died from massive head injuries, which according to Mr Whitbread, were consistent with being hit in the back of her right leg, thrown into the air and then hitting a hard surface.
There was substantial damage to the passenger side of Mr Murray's vehicle, including smashing of his windscreen, damage to the front headlight, indicator, passenger rear door and window.

The thieves made off with over $8,000 in jewelry and cash.
'Theses two despicable cowards took it on their home to start beating the 87-year-old woman unmercifully,' said Brownstown Township Police Chief Dennis Richardson. 'At that age, she's so frail, they could have sat her down demanded the jewelry from her and I am sure she would have gladly provided it to her.'
The victim, whose name is not being released, was able to stumble to a neighbor's home and call for help.
She was taken to an area hospital and later transferred to a trauma hospital in Detroit, where she remains hospitalized.

Attorney John Marti argued that Petters should remain in custody because he is a flight risk.

LANCASTER A theft was reported in the 100 block of Lenwood Drive on Monday, according to Lancaster police report.
Someone entered the home between midnight Aug. 1 and 9 a.m. Friday and stole various jewelry, including a diamond tennis bracelet and gold cross necklace.
Estimated total loss is $500.

September 13th. It might as well have been Friday the 13. In preparation for the big USC match up in LA I did everything right. I even stepped up my game and carried my buckeye in my pocket for days, wore my red OSU rubber bracelet. I even considered opening up that box of Buckeye Heroes cereal with AJ Hawk on it and chowing down on the sugary, chemical laced morsels.

EPT London Main Event sees young American take home a million
23-year-old Pennsylvanian poker pro Michael Martin brought his career earnings up to $3 207 000 this week when he took down the PokerStars.net European Poker Tour London Main Event title and its GBP1 million first prize in an epic comeback against skilled and experienced final table opponents.
The maximum number of players accepted for the event had to be extended well beyond the 500 figure set by the organisers to accommodate demand for the popular tournament, which eventually attracted over 600 players, among them Gus Hansen, Annette Obrestad, Patrik Antonius, Kathy Liebert, Sorel Mizzi, John Phan, Max Pescatori, Shane Schleger, Joe Beevers, Ross Boatman, Chris Ferguson and Freddy Deeb.
Adding to the almost WSOP-gravitas of the event were Gavin Griffin who entered, as did Jeff Lisandro, Jean-Robert Bellande and David Williams, along with champs like Scotty Nguyen, Joe Hachem, Chris Moneymaker, Greg Raymer and world tennis legend Boris Becker.
Former EPT champions included Vicky Coren, Julian Thew, Andreas Hoivold, Mads Andersen and Sebastian Ruthenberg, and top pros Vanessa Rousso, Barry Greenstein, David Benyamine, Peter Eastgate, Roland De Wolfe, Alex Kravchenko and Isabelle Mercier.
Many of them had fallen by the wayside by Day 2, when only 32 players had survived, with French pro Philippe D'Auteuil heading the chip leader board, closely trailed by countryman Antony Lellouche and David Benyamine.
When it came to the final table of eight, there were few big names left although it included WSOP bracelet winner Alan Smurfit, and the respected French player Antony Lellouche. Other survivors were Martin, at that stage fourth in chip counts on 728 000, chip leader Michael Tureniec on 1 333 000, Eric Liu on 1 308 000, Johannes Strassmann, Phillipe D'Auteuil and Marcin Horecki - low man on the board with 309 000 who subsequently made a remarkable recovery to finish third.
Surprisingly it was Lellouche who was first to be eliminated, leaving in eighth place with GBP 81 569, a victim of firm play by Strassmann, who was himself the next to depart after a further two hours of play, leaving in seventh spot and collecting GBP 120 723 after tangling with Martin.
Smurfit was another Martin victim, headed for the rail in sixth place and a cashiers visit worth GBP153 351. Horecki was still hanging in and had improved his standing sufficiently to take out the Day 2 chip leader Philippe D'Auteuil, sending him to the exit and a fifth spot payday of GBP 195 766.
Eric Liu was next to go, again falling to Martin's play and finishing in fourth place with a check for GBP 234 920. Half an hour later it was Horecki's time to head home after tangling with the rampant Martin
